Key Strengths
Excellent Coaching / Saint Edward’s coaches are dedicated educators, passionate about their sports and about bringing out the best in their athletes. Most were themselves accomplished collegiate and competitive athletes.
Exceptional Facilities
Along with the two gymnasiums, aquatic center and multi-use dock, highlights include two lighted fields, additional practice fields, and a state of the art weight room.
Competitive Schedules
Saint Edward’s 38 interscholastic teams face rivals from other Florida independent and private schools, including some of the region’s strongest programs.
Varsity boys weightlifting competed in the Class 1A District 12 Tournament at Frostproof Middle-Senior High School in Frostproof on 4/9/26. William Cheriton took 1st place in both the Olympic and Traditional events in his weight class and hit 8 of his 9 lifts. Also medaling for the Pirates in their weight classes were Alexander Wolek with 2nd in both Olympic and Traditional, Rome Barker with 2nd place in Traditional, and Brody Crookshank with 2nd in Olympic and 3rd in Traditional. The team finished 4th overall in Traditional and 5th overall in Olympic. Regional qualifiers will be announced this weekend. Individual scores for the Pirate team are below:

The varsity girls lacrosse team played Suncoast Community High School in the Class 1A District 13 Quarterfinals on 4/9/26 in Pirate Stadium. The Pirates handily defeated the Chargers in the playoff game, 18-1, to move on to the District Semifinals.
Margaret Fykes led the Pirates into battle with 3 goals and 1 assist. Netting 2 goals apiece were Eva Hall and Isla Dyer. CJ Fykes brought in 1 goal and 3 assists, and Lily O'Brien provided 1 goal and 2 assists toward the victory. Recording 1 goal each in the competition were Brooke Moore, Cailtin Moscrip, Cami Colontrelle, Grace Fykes, Kelly Lynch, Lily Chin, Madison DeCosta, Tenley Martin, and Gertie Busch-Dunford. The Pirates were on top of draw controls with C. Fykes winning 4, Moscrip winning 3, Blair Moore winning 2, Chin winning 2, and Nicollette Kennedy. C. Fykes and Chin collected 2 forced turnovers each, and teammates Avery Orzechowski, Colontrelle, and O'Brien contributed 1 apiece. At the goal, Abbey Carter recorded 1 save.

Pitcher Torresson was a force to be reckoned with at the mound for varsity baseball in the Pirates' 6-1 victory over Lighthouse Private Christian School in the SSAA Class 5A Championship game on 4/3/26 at the Historic Sanford Memorial Stadium in Sanford. He gave up 7 hits and 1 run over 5 innings, striking out 6. This is Torresson's first year as a member of the varsity baseball team.
Congratulations to sophomore Mia Perezfor being selected as one of this week's Saint Edward's School Athletes of the Week! Varsity track & field athlete Perez crushed all three of her field events at the 4/1/226 Fort Pierce Central Freshman/Sophomore Meet at Lawnwood Stadium in Fort Pierce. She received the gold medal in Discus (26.35m), Shot Put (8.99m, a personal best), and Javelin (21.34m). This is Perez's fourth year as a member of the varsity girls track and field team.
Varsity Baseball recently competed at the SSAA Class 5A Championship Tournament held at the Historic Sanford Memorial Stadium in Sanford. On 4/2/26, the Pirates took on Keswick Christian School in the playoff game. In the top of the 2nd inning, the Pirates claimed the lead after Nolan Ange grounded into a fielder's choice, Trey Dunlap singled to the left side of the infield, and Graham Hutton singled down the left field line, each scoring 1 run. Saint Edward's added to their early lead in the top of the 3rd inning after Colton Freedman grounded out, and the Crusaders committed an error, with each player scoring 1 run.
Caden Freedman earned the win for the Pirates at the mound. The hurler allowed 7 hits and 4 runs, with 2 earned, over 5 and 1/3 innings, striking out 3 and walking 2. Reid Morris appeared in relief for the Pirates, and Ange collected the save.
At the plate, Dunlap, Morris, and Hutton each collected 1 hit for the Pirates, and Morris stole 3 bases.
The Pirates next faced Lighthouse Private Christian Academy on 4/3/26 in the Class 5A Championship game. The Pirate team captured the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the 2nd after Co. Freedman singled to center field, and Jack Torresson singled down the left field line, each scoring 1 run. Saint Edward's added to their early lead in the bottom of the 3rd inning after Ca. Freedman doubled down the left field line, and Co. Freedman singled to center field, each scoring 1 run. The Stingrays were no match for the Pirates as the Pirates claimed the Championship trophy with a final score of 6-1.
Torresson had a stellar performance on the bump for the Pirates. The right-handed pitcher gave up 7 hits and 1 run over 5 innings, striking out 6. Ange pitched the final 2 innings in relief, allowing 1 hit and striking out 2.
Co. Freedman provided pop in the middle of the lineup and led the Pirate team with 3 RBI’s as the catcher went 2-for-3. Morris also had a great day at the plate, going 2-3 with a double and triple.
The varsity girls lacrosse team played their last regular season home game in Pirate Stadium on 4/2/26 versus King's Academy. The Pirates were fired up on the field, claiming a 15-5 victory over the Lions and closing out what has been stupendous regular season play with a 10-3 season record.
Margaret Fykes and Caitlin Moscrip led the charge for the Pirate team with 4 goals and 1 assist apiece. Lily O'Brien followed with 3 goals and 1 assist. Recording 1 goal and 2 assists each for the Pirates were CJ Fykes and Grace Fykes. Aerin Russell contributed 1 goal and 1 assist toward the victory, and Kelly Lynch added 1 goal. M. Fykes topped draw control wins with 6, and Moscrip provided 5 draw controls. C. Fykes collected 2 draw controls, and O'Brien added 1. Madeline Richards led the Pirates in forced turnovers with 2, and teammates M. Fykes, Lynch, and Moscrip each brought in 1. At the net, Abbey Carter had 5 saves for a 50% save rate.
On 4/2/26, the varsity boys lacrosse team went up against Gulliver Preparatory School on the Michael J. Mersky Field. The Pirates led the Raiders 4-1 at the end of the 1st quarter but saw their opponents strike back in the 2nd quarter, with the Pirates maintaining a 6-5 lead going into halftime. The Pirates, unfortunately, couldn't stop the Raiders in the second half and fell 8-12.
Topping the scoreboard for the Pirates was Brady McCoy with 3 goals and 1 assist, followed by Chris Campbell with 2 goals and 1 assist and Connor O'Brien with 2 goals. Turner Barnett netted 1 goal and 1 assist, and Charlie Corrigan provided 1 assist. Matthew Vatland saw 11 faceoff wins, and Edwin Provancher made 5 saves at goal.

We build rapport with our student-athletes creating an atmosphere for success, and teaching the proper values, skills and strategies. A love of activity starts with the Physical Education program, which begins in our Little Pirates (PreK-3) programs. Students then progress to middle school team sports and eventually varsity-level competition in the Upper School.
