Key Strengths
Excellent Coaching / Saint Edward’s coaches are dedicated educators, passionate about their sports and about bringing out the best in their athletes. Most were themselves accomplished collegiate and competitive athletes.
Exceptional Facilities
Along with the two gymnasiums, aquatic center and multi-use dock, highlights include two lighted fields, additional practice fields, and a state of the art weight room.
Competitive Schedules
Saint Edward’s 38 interscholastic teams face rivals from other Florida independent and private schools, including some of the region’s strongest programs.
On Monday, May 18, at the McAlpin Fine Arts Center at Indian River State College in Fort Pierce, seniors William Kourakis and Olivia Stovall were recognized at the 13th Annual E. Michael Stutzke High School Scholar-Athlete Awards banquet sponsored by the Play Treasure Coast Sports Commission. The organization seeks to recognize one male and one female recipient from all public and private schools across the Treasure Coast, and nominees for this award must be scholar-athletes who demonstrate leadership skills, exhibit strength of character and serve as role models for others on and off the playing field.
Kourakis, as a multisport athlete, has competed at the varsity level for soocer and football in his upper school athletic career at Saint Edward's. For soccer, he was selected for the Senior All-Star game, and he was named Florida Athletic Coaches Association Class 1A Player of the Year during his junior year. Off the field, he excelled academically in the classroom, earning AP Scholar recognition, and consistently made Honor Roll. His community service involvement includes the Prayer Breakfast and Habitat for Humanity.
In addition to being a dedicated athlete at Saint Edward's School, Stovall'scontributions to the classroom were as impactful as her contributions on the golf course, as she maintained her position on the Head of School List all 4 years and has won various subject awards for English, mathematics, and science throughout her high school tenure. During her athletic career at Saint Edward's, she played a vital role on the varsity girls golf team, being recognized as the Most Valuable Player all 5 years of her athletic participation, as well as winning the school's Athlete of the Week Award and being named several times to TCPalm's Fall All-Area team. In her free time, she has volunteered with Treasure Coast Girl's Coalition and for various Community Service Club events. At Our Savior Lutheran Church, she also gives back to the community through acolyte services and Bible study.
Taking part recently in her final competition for this school year was eighth-grade varsity equestrian Morgan Thompson. At the 2026 ESP Spring 5 show held in Wellington, Thompson and her horse Paco ("Cavaliere") competed in the 0.85m jumpers and the THIS Children’s Medal and SFHJA Junior Amateur Medal classes.
Sophomore varsity equestrian Freddie Alcalay and her trusted steed, Perry Girl, had another successful show at the 2026 ESP Spring Series 4 at Wellington International in Wellington recently. After a smooth warm-up in the .90s to pull in a 2nd place finish, Alcalay and Perry Girl then crushed the 1.0 meter, ahead of all of their 24 competitors by 7 seconds. The duo finished the show winning 3rd of 16 and 4th of 14 while putting down speedy, clear rounds. They were crowned reserve champions at the meter level, securing an invitation to the regional championships this summer in Tryon, NC.
The varsity boys weightlifting Class 1A State Championship was held on 5/8/26 at the PR Funding Center in Lakeland. On 5/6/26, Jacquelyn Perrin and the girls 4x800 relay team traveled to Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville to go up against the state's best in the Class 1A State Championship for varsity track and field.
The squad of Nahlia Hebig, Cadence Callaghan, Sophie Cooper, and Jacquelyn Perrin took to the track for the first event of the meet for the Pirate team, the girls 4x800 relay race. The relay team battled on the track to an 11th place finish overall, clocking in at 10:15.16.
Representing the Pirates in the 1600m, despite a setback on the track toward the end of the race, Perrin completed the event in a respectable 9th place at 5:15.04. With the 800m race, Perrin was looking to add to this season's medal count. In the final 100 meters, she unleashed a remarkable home-stretch sprint, overtaking the runner just ahead of her by a thrilling 0.04 seconds at the finish line, seizing 4th place at 2:18.10 and earning her spot on the podium.
The varsity track and field team took part in the Class 1A Region 4 Tournament on 5/1/26 at Ansin Sports Complex in Miramar. We build rapport with our student-athletes creating an atmosphere for success, and teaching the proper values, skills and strategies. A love of activity starts with the Physical Education program, which begins in our Little Pirates (PreK-3) programs. Students then progress to middle school team sports and eventually varsity-level competition in the Upper School. Saint Edward’s School fields 42 teams in 22 sports and enjoys an enviable record of success. Athletes with a range of abilities at all levels find opportunities to advance their skills and compete to their full potential.
