Math Update – Partial Sums & Estimating
In math, third graders are learning strategies to add larger numbers using partial sums. This means breaking numbers apart by place value (hundreds, tens, ones) to make addition easier and more accurate. Students are also practicing estimating by rounding numbers to check whether their answers make sense. These strategies build strong number sense and confidence with addition skills.
