Stalk-ing Up on Science!

Our Little Pirate scientists explored how trees and plants drink water through a fun celery experiment! We placed celery stalks in cups of water and added drops of food coloring, then waited patiently over several days to see what would happen. When we checked back, the children were amazed to discover that the celery leaves had changed color—the water had traveled up the stalk just like it does in trees, carrying nutrients to the leaves. It was an exciting, hands-on way to see how plants “drink” and a great introduction to making observations and waiting for results like real scientists!
