Pirates Strike Gold at Karate Championships

On Saturday, April 26, Nahlia Hebig ’28 and Jaiya Hebig ’29 competed at the Gold District Championships in West Palm Beach, part of the AAU Karate 2025 Florida Championship Series. Nahlia earned a gold medal in Kumite (fighting) and a silver in Kobudo (bo staff weapon), while Jaiya brought home double gold, earning top honors in both Kumite and Kobudo.

With these impressive results, Jaiya has clinched the state champion title, and both Nahlia and Jaiya have qualified for the 2025 WUKF World Championship, taking place in Sweden this summer. Their next stop is a tournament in Orlando in two weeks, followed by the National Championships in Fort Lauderdale over the Fourth of July weekend.
