Varsity Girls Volleyball Overcomes Harvest Community to Make It to State Finals
The varsity volleyball team traveled to Winter Haven Health Center at Polk State College in Winter Haven on 11/4/25 to take on Harvest Community School in the Class 1A State Semifinals. The Pirates went back and forth with the Warriors, tying in 4 sets: 25-18, 16-25, 18-25, 25-14. In the 5th set showdown, the determined Pirates overcame the Warriors 16-14, ensuring their advancement to the 1A State Championship game.
Makena Rodriguez posted 14 kills, 1 ace, 1 assist, and 10 digs, and Margaret Fykes recorded 1 kill, 4 aces, 41 assists, and 3 digs. Grace Clemente netted 16 kills, 1 dig, and 2 blocks, and Nevin Waddell brought in 15 kills, 2 aces, 1 assist, and 1 dig. Also contributing toward the Pirate victory were Grace Fykes with 1 ace, 5 assists, and 3 digs; Khlieo Perez with 1 kill and 3 blocks; CJ Fykes with 1 kill, 1 assist, and 1 dig; Alice Crean with 2 kills; and Maddie Moscrip with 1 ace and 2 digs.
