Health and Wellness Update

MJ (lk)
Saint Edward’s School is closely following information about the outbreak of the coronavirus, which has been spreading primarily in China, with no cases currently reported in the state of Florida. While there have been a number of isolated cases in the United States, based on the most recent information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the immediate health risk for the general public is believed to be low at this time.

The School had been planning an academic “winter camp” for a group of students from China, but, in an abundance of caution, almost a month ago we decided to cancel the event for the foreseeable future. If you or a family member are planning to travel to affected areas, please refer to the CDC’s Travelers’ Health page and follow appropriate safety precautions.

Please also keep in mind that we are in the heart of flu season, and we ask that our families take all of the necessary precautions to prevent the spread of the virus, including:

·      Keep your children home at the first sign of illness.
·      Cover coughs and sneezes.
·      Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
·      Wash your hands often.
·      Limit contact with family members who are ill.

Rest assured that we will continue to monitor the CDC recommendations and make the best decisions for the health and well-being of our entire community.
