STEM Challenge: Ricky the Rock That Couldn't Roll

Kelly Hudson
Third-grade students are learning the engineering design process. After listening to the story, Ricky the Rock That Couldn't Roll by Erin Wozniak, students were challenged to make a flat rock roll. Students identified the problem, made a plan, tested their design, and made improvements as needed. Many important skills (cooperation, communication, investigation, and problem-solving) were used to complete this challenge. Click on this video for a glimpse into the classroom. Students used Seesaw to document the design process. Check out Maui's video to see Maui and Sienna's solution.
