Record Breaking Finish at States for Varsity Boys Lifter Leo Wang
Varsity boys weightlifter Leonardo Wang traveled to Port St. Joe High School in Port St. Joe for the Class 1A State Tournament held on 4/23/22. Competing in the 154 lb. division, Wang went 3for3 to place 8th in the snatch event, setting a personal record and a new school record with his 155 lb. lift.
In the traditional competition, Wang placed 7th overall. Wang's 240 lb. bench press surpassed his personal record and broke the school record of 225 lbs. previously set in 2010 by Pirate alumnus Chandler Craft'10. Wang hit a personal record with his 245 lb. clean and jerk. His total of 485 lbs. set another personal record for Wang and broke the school record of 475 lbs. that was previously set in 2010 by Pirate alumnus Christopher Barbato '10.
