Inaugural History Honor Society Event

MJ
Last week, the US History Department inducted six students (Clark Nelson, Rose Papadopoulos, Maeve Reicher, Olivia Pickering, Josh Langsam, Lauren Chesley) into the inaugural chapter of Rho Kappa, the History Honor Society. The History Department worked diligently to become members of the Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society, and the students showed equal dedication and perseverance to become a part of this important class. Some of the inductees had previously presented their research as members of the Advanced Studies Program, and others chose to pursue topics of study that would enhance their understanding of history and social studies. Mr. Mitchell, who was in Washington, DC, with the Academic World Quest competitors, joined by FaceTime from a cab leaving the airport. Each student discussed why they have an appreciation for history and social studies and how they will pursue their passions in college. Olivia Pickering summed it up, saying, "I have always wanted to know the answers to my questions, even when I was little. I am committed and passionate about discovering these answers from yesterday and today."
