Varsity Girls Basketball Upsets Jaguars in Thriller
The varsity girls basketball team hosted Port St. Lucie High School on 1/21/25 in the Gonzalez Lobo-Activities Center, playing one of the most exciting games of their season. The Pirates fell behind 6-15 early in the 1st quarter but rallied in the 2nd to take a 1-point lead going into halftime. Despite trailing 32-22 at the end of the 3rd quarter, the Pirates switched defenses in the 4th quarter, made some steals and good passes, and sank vital shots to take the lead and stun the Jaguars with their 44-40 win.
Avonti Jennings led the Pirates scorers with 16 points. Teammates Gaby Collazo and Amajyn Cannon netted 9 points each. Anastasia Headley grabbed 8 points for the Pirates, and Halle Grella chipped in 2.
Next game is away on 1/22/25 at Pineapple Cove Classical Academy in Palm Bay, starting at 7:00 PM.
