Varsity Track & Field Goes the Distance at District Tourney
The varsity track and field team competed in their Class 1A District 13 Tournament at The Benjamin School in Palm Beach Gardens on 4/18/25. The Pirates set may personal records in their events and saw one new school record set. The girls team placed 4th overall, and the boys team placed 5th overall. All Pirate athletes who placed in the top 4 in their respective events will automatically advance to Regionals, and additional team members might qualify for at-large bids once they are announced.
In the girls events, Jacquelyn Perrin finished in 3rd place in the 800m with 2:29.00, and Sophie Cooper captured 3rd place in the 3200m at 13:43.64. Cadence Callaghan again broke her school record for the 400 Hurdles with her time of 1:15.56 to place 5th. Stephanie Storts finished in 7th place in the 1600m with 6:13.36. Nahlia Hebig placed 8th in the 400 Hurdles with a personal best time of 1:19.00. In relay events, the 4x800 relay team (Callaghan, Cooper, Perrin, Niah Boulding) secured a 2nd place finish with a time of 11:43.92. The 4x400 relay team (Callaghan, Hebig, Perrin, Audrey Elliott) placed 3rd with 4:42.70. In field events, Elliott placed 5th in the Triple Jump with her personal record jump of 8.83m. Hebig finished in 6th place in the Long Jump with her 4.31m mark, and Tirzah Boulding placed 6th in Javelin with her 17.21m throw.
For the boys team, Jack Curley won the 1600m with his personal best time of 4:36.66 and secured a 2nd place finish in the 3200m with 10:25.40, also a personal record. Jamin Dunham captured the 3rd place finish in the 3200m at 11:02.27, a personal best. Nicky Colontrelle finished 4th in the 400 Hurdles at 1:09.17. Chris Perrin finished 6th in the 3200m at 12:00.03. Aidan Bryant placed 6th in the 1600m with a personal best of 5:20.69 and finished 8th in the 3200m with 12:38.06. In relay events, the 4x800 relay team (Colontrelle, Jay Leibik, Spencer Taft, Curley) grabbed a 3rd place finish with 9:29.81. In field events, Colontrelle finished in 6th place in the Triple Jump with his mark of 11.29m, and Leibik placed 7th in Long Jump with his jump of 5.49m.
