Last Race of Regular Season for Varsity Cross Country Before Districts
The varsity cross country teams took part in their last meet of the regular season at the FSU Invitational (Pre-State) on 10/24-10/25 at the Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee. Over 150 teams, some from out of state, showed up to the multiday, multitiered race. The race is structured into 4 categories: Elite, Select, Varsity A, and Varsity B, with the top 32 teams in the state, regardless of school-size class, being sorted into Elite, the next 32 into Select, and so on. Jacquelyn Perrin and Jack Curley qualified individually for the Select category, and they each represented Saint Edward's School in that race, alongside the other 250+ athletes in the heat. The remainder of the Pirate athletes participated in the Varsity B race.
On Friday, Jamin Dunham started things off for the Pirates by participating the the middle school 3k event. He finished in 6th place with an impressive personal record of 10:08.05, a 49-second improvement from the first meet of the season, over just 3000 meters!
Perrin was the next to step on the start line, putting down a 19:26.1 course personal record in the girls Select race and placing 10th overall, which earned her a trip to the podium. Curley also set a new course personal record with a 16:37.2 and placed 24th in the boys Select category.
In the girls Varsity B race, Sophie Cooper and Cadence Callaghan ran to a literal tie down to the tenth of a second at 22:10.4, smashing both of their personal records. They finished the race in 18th and 19th place, respectively. Nahlia Hebig followed up with her first run on the State's course in 22:50.7, finishing 27th. Emma Ramsay also set her own course personal record with 25:34.4 to finish 109th.
Finally, the boys competing in the Varsity B race proceeded to go 5 for 5 on new personal records and placed 10th as a team overall. Chris Perrin went 19:15.9 for 40th place, Cam Perrin went 19:23.3 for 4th place, Reef Blackman went 19:27 for th place, Liam Boltrek went 19:40.6 for 63rd place, and Ian Wallace went 20:36.7 for 107th place. The improvement of all the boys team's times has moved them from 8th ranked in the Region all the way to 5th.
Next meet is the Class 1A District 7 Tournament on 11/4/25, starting at 2:00 PM at South County Regional Park in Boca Raton.
