Varsity Swimming Makes Splash at Home Meet

Both varsity boys and girls swimming walked away victorious in their first home meet against Covenant Christian School on 9/19/19 at Saint Edward's School.

Overall, the boys team defeated their opponents: 76-16. Joshua Canevari, senior, placed 1st in the 50-meter freestyle as well as 3rd in the 100-meter breaststroke. Jozef Wolek, 8th grade, placed 1st in the 100-meter breaststroke.

Other notable finishes by the boys team: Ben Evans - 2nd in 50-meter freestyle, 3rd in 100-meter freestyle; Ray Taft - 2nd in 100-meter freestyle, 3rd in 200-meter freestyle;  Christopher Powell - 2nd in 200-meter freestyle; Alex Roberts - 2nd in 100-meter breaststroke; and James Hollinger - 3rd in 50-meter freestyle.

The girls team walked away with an overall win as well:  75-66. Alexandra Stern, 8th grade, placed 1st both the 200-meter freestyle and the 400-meter freestyle. Faith Mead, freshman, received 1st place in the 50-meter freestyle and 100-meter freestyle.

The girls relay team compromised of Faith Mead, Selma Memet, Andrea Perez-Gonzalez, and Alexandra Stern outswam the competition in both the 200-meter medley and 200-meter freestyle. For the 400-meter freestyle relay, Kate Kedem, Addison Logemann, Laurel Logemann, and Stern clinched a 1st place victory almost 8 seconds ahead of their competitors.

Additional highlights for the girls team: Selma Memet - 2nd place in 200-meter individual medley, 3rd in 400-meter freestyle; Kate Kedem - 2nd place in 100-meter backstroke, 3rd in 50-meter freestyle; Addison Logemann - 2nd place in 100-meter breaststroke, 3rd in 200-meter individual medley; and Laurel Logemann - 3rd place in 200-meter freestyle; 3rd in 100-meter breaststroke.


Next meet is away on 9/24/19 at Melbourne Central Catholic High School in Melbourne, starting at 4:00 PM.
