Important News from the Assist Team

NP (lk)
From English teacher Nicole Padgett: The Assist Team is a dedicated group of teachers who are committed to helping our upper school students successfully navigate the decisions and pressures faced by teens today. With Thanksgiving approaching, we thought it would be a good idea to educate our parents about what has become known as "Black Wednesday" or "Drinksgiving," a time when most college students return home (some for the first time after being away from home since August) and, while happy to be with family, are especially excited to reconnect with old friends. Celebrations can become excessive, however, and might include younger siblings. This article provides some insight into the trend.

We encourage parents to remind both their US and college-age children to make good decisions and plan ahead for these potential risky behaviors during the break, and the image below may help guide parents in how to talk to their young adult children.

We wish you a joyful Thanksgiving and look forward to celebrating the holiday season upon our return to School.
