A Digital Gallery Walk Through South Sudan

Not to be daunted by the health and safety protocols due to the pandemic, seventh grade English students still went on a gallery walk to explore the setting of A Long Walk to Water - a digital gallery walk. The slideshow took the students on a trip through the landscape of South Sudan and introduced them to the country's inhabitants to help them visualize the protagonists' lives in the novel. Students learned that the Dinka people of South Sudan are reportedly the tallest people in the world. In fact, Raymond T. pointed out that renowned NBA player Manute Bol was from the Dinka tribe.
