November is Native American Heritage Month

(lk)
Beginning in 1990 when President George H. W. Bush approved a joint resolution designating November as “National American Indian Heritage Month," it has become an annual opportunity to recognize the significant contributions the first Americans made to the establishment and growth of the U.S. The National American Indian Heritage Month Web portal is a collaborative project with The Library of Congress, National Archives and Records Administration, National Endowment for the Humanities, National Gallery of Art, National Park Service, Smithsonian Institution and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum joining to pay tribute to the rich ancestry and traditions of Native Americans, and it is a great resource for learning more about the first Americans.

Malika Omawale recently shared this interesting fact about Mesoamerica: The Mayans had very effective water filtration systems comparable to modern systems. Happy Native American History Month!
