Chinese Language Parade Celebrates Chinese Spring Festival

Dr. Bao (mc) (lk)
The Chinese Language learners in the Middle and Upper Schools held a COVID-friendly, campus-wide parade during break to celebrate the Chinese Spring Festival, also known as Chinese New Year. Chinese 4 Honors and Chinese 5 Honors students led the parade with a traditional lion dance, followed by World Language Department Chair Mrs. Heard dressed in a chaoxian zu ethnic traditional costume (normally worn by the people in the north of China, close to Korea). Chinese Teacher Dr. Bao, wore her Qipao, a classical Chinese women's dress. The students carried colorful lanterns, waved ribbons and twirled umbrellas as they proceded along the corridors of the School from the Fine Arts Building through the Lower and Middle Schools. As part of this year's festival celebrations, students enjoyed a Chinese Spring Festival lunch from a local restaurant (special thanks to Mr. MacMullan and Mrs. Murphy!).
