Sixth Grade Bas-Relief

Ms. Sherrier
Bas-relief sculpture is a kind of shallow 3-D sculpture. Bas-relief has been used throughout history to decorate buildings and columns and is a favorite artwork for commemorating victories and historical scenes. Because the sculpture is like a drawing but with depth and real shadow, it is highly versatile and can be used in many different ways and places. The sixth-grade experimented with some bas-relief sculptures of their own by creating a clay backing and building their chosen designs from the surface using additive and subtractive sculptural techniques.
