MS Tennis Fares Well in Season End Tourney

The middle school tennis teams had a strong showing on 5/14/22 at the End of Season Middle School Tennis Tournament at Riverside Park Tennis Courts. Also competing against the Pirate teams in the match-ups were Master's Academy, Oslo Middle School, Sebastian River Middle School and Storm Grove Middle School.

The first portion of the morning competition was the singles contest, which saw 6 Pirates competing. After winning 2 matches each, Jenessa Kendall on the Silver Team for the Pirates played against Theodore Reicher of the Blue Team in the quarterfinals. Kendall won the matchup and advanced to the semifinals. 

Representing the Blue Team in the singles competition were Mia Fernandez and Reicher. Representing the Silver Team in the singles competition were Alex MiraLiam Dyer, Charlie Cappelen and Kendall.

The second half of the tournament saw the doubles teams competing for victory. For the Blue Team, Alex Thiney and his partner from Sebastian River Middle School took home the champion's medal in doubles by winning 4 straight matches before coming from behind to beat a Sebastian River Middle School team to claim the title. Blue Team athletes Mia Maldonado and Khlieo Perez won 3 straight matches before their close loss in the semifinals.

Competing in the doubles tournament for Pirates were Matthew Stern, Matthew Barrett, Diego LealJackson ColontrelleIsabella PeterRosalie Miller, Ivy Engel, Maldonado, Perez and Thiney.
