Varsity Girls Cross Country Team, Brown Capture SSAC Titles

The varsity girls cross country team traveled to Lakeland on 9/24/22 to take part in the team's first-ever Sunshine State Athletic Conference Championship. Battling a muddy and difficult course at Holloway Park, the Lady Pirates wowed the crowd of race observers by finishing 1st place overall as a team. Their team total of 21 finished the Lady Pirates well ahead of 2nd place St. Stephen's Episcopal School of Bradenton's 81 total points.

Junior Carrington Brown finished in 1st place overall individually, with a personal best time of 21:59. Brown, who is new to cross country this season, led throughout the race. Following closely behind were teammates senior Luna Rivera, who captured 2nd place with her 23:01, and seventh-grader Jacquelyn Perrin, who secured 3rd place at 23:16. Rounding out the successful day on the course and helping ensure the Lady Pirate team victory were eighth-grader Anna Marie Zugave (6th place/24:18) and senior Isabella Cooper (10th/25:46).

Next meet is Senior Night on 10/1/22 versus the Brevard HEAT and Pineapple Cove Classical Academy, starting at 7:30 PM on the Michael J. Mersky Field.
