Varsity Volleyball Opens Season with Win Over Tradition Prep

The varsity volleyball team hosted their season opener on 8/24/23 in the Gonzalez-Lobo Activities Center. Taking on Tradition Preparatory High School, the Pirates took down their opponents in 3 straight sets: 25-6, 25-13, 25-8.

Leading the charge for the team was senior Elliotte Kahler with 1 kill, 11 assists, 9 aces, and 7 digs. Recording the most kills at 9 for the Pirates was sophomore CJ Fykes, who also contributed 6 aces and 6 digs. Senior Meagan Baker contributed 5 kills, 2 digs, and 2 blocks; while sophomore Alice Crean added 5 kills, 1 assist, and 1 dig. Greatly assisting the team with 14 digs, sophomore Makena Rodriguez also recorded 3 assists and 7 aces. Helping the Pirates move toward victory was junior Sommer Soderman with 2 kills, 2 aces, and 8 digs. Rounding out the successful day on the court for the Pirates were junior Natalee Rogers with 1 ace and 2 digs and sophomore Khlieo Perez with 2 kills.
 
Next game is at home on 8/28/23 versus the Brevard HEAT, starting at 6:00 PM in the Gonzalez-Lobo Activities Center.
