Narrow Defeat for Varsity Football in Season Opener

On 8/25/23, the varsity football team traveled to Maitland to take on Orangewood Christian School. After going down 9 points, the Pirate offense drove 96 yards in 2 plays to cut the lead to 2 points. With only 1 timeout remaining, the Pirates could not stop the clock against the Rams after just missing an onside kick at the end of the game.

At quarterback, Nate Sparkman threw for 293 yards and 2 touchdowns. Nicky Colontrelle went for 140 yards on 7 catches for the Pirates, and teammates Patrick MacMullan and Ethan Ball both caught touchdown passes. Jaden Jackson led the team in rushing with 23 yards and a touchdown. Making significant contributions defensively for the Pirate team were Zavier Solano and Mark Moore.
