Varsity Volleyball Holds Back Cougars
On 9/21/23, the varsity volleyball team took on Merritt Island Christian School in the Gonzalez-Lobo Activities Center. Despite being down 24-26 in the close first set, the Pirates rallied back to clinch the next 3 sets 25-15, 25-13, 25-16.
Supporting the Pirates in their successful night was Elliotte Kahler with 2 kills, 35 assists, 7 aces, and 13 digs. Makena Rodriguez, who led the Pirates in kills with 14 and digs with 16, also collected 1 assist and 6 aces. Proving vital on the court were Meagan Baker with 10 kills, 1 ace, 5 digs, and 3 blocks; CJ Fykes with 4 kills, 1 assist, 1 ace, and 13 digs; and Natalee Rogers with 2 assists, 1 ace, and 10 digs. Alice Crean recorded 6 kills, 5 digs, and 1 block; Sommer Soderman added 1 assist, 1 ace, and 12 digs; and Khlieo Perez chipped in 4 kills, 1 dig, and 1 block toward the Pirate victory.
