Varsity Swimming Goes Head-to-Head with Calvary Chapel Academy

The varsity boys and girls swimming teams traveled to the Eddie Lee Taylor, Sr. Pool in Melbourne on 9/21/23 to take on Calvary Chapel Academy. In their first one-on-one meet of the season, the Pirates dominated all of the events they entered.

For the boys team, Jozef Wolek captured 1st place finish in both the 200 Yard Individual Medley (2:38.08) and the 100 Yard Breaststroke (1:20.28). Jay Leibik also recorded 1st place finishes in the 50 Yard Freestyle (25.38) and the 100 Yard Freestyle (57.75). Matthew Burris placed 1st in the 200 Yard Freestyle (2:25.94) and finished 2nd in the 100 Yard Freestyle (1:00.68). Alexander Wolek came in 1st place in the 100 Yard Backstroke (1:21.34) and 2nd place in the 200 Yard Freestyle (2:29.31). Luke Cozad placed 2nd in the 100 Yard Breaststroke (1:30.19) and 3rd in the 50 Yard Freestyle (34.50). Brody Krieger finished 3rd in the 100 Yard Freestyle (1:20.65) and received 4th place in the 50 Yard Freestyle (41.22).

In the boys relay events, the team of A. Wolek, J. Wolek, Leibik, and Burris placed 1st in the 200 Yard Medley Relay with 2:08.69, and the team of Leibik, Burris, J. Wolek, and A. Wolek recorded a 1st place finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay.

For the girls team, Sophia Cetrulo captured 1st place in the 50 Yard Freestyle (32.35) and finished in 2nd place in the 100 Yard Breaststroke (1:33.13). Samantha Decker recorded a 1st place finish in the 100 Yard Freestyle (1:19.16) and placed 2nd in the 50 Yard Freestyle (35.10). Addison Logemann placed 3rd in the 50 Yard Freestyle (35.63) and 3rd in the 100 Yard Breaststroke (1:38.09).
 
Next meet is away on 9/23/23 at the Indian River State College High School Invitational in Fort Pierce, starting at 8:30 AM.
