Varsity Boys Swimming Competes in Heartland Invite Over Fall Break

On 10/14/23, the varsity boys swimming team traveled to Lake Placid High School in Lake Placid to take part in the Heartland Invitational. In a competitive field of 9 schools, the Pirates swam well, placing in the top 10 in most of their events.

Jay Leibik finished in 7th place in the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 56.92 and placed 9th in the 50 Yard Freestyle at 25.28. Matthew Burris collected 8th place in the 200 Yard Freestyle (2:20.32) and 9th place in the 100 Yard Freestyle (58.69). Jozef Wolek finished 8th in the 200 Yard Individual Medley (2:43.53) and 12th in the 100 Yard Breaststroke (1:20.85), and Alexander Wolek placed 10th in the 100 Yard Freestyle (1:00.35) and 15th in the 100 Yard Backstroke (1:17.41).

In the relay events, the Pirate relay team, composed of Leibik, Burris, J. Wolek, and A. Wolek, captured 3rd place in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay with 1:46.70. The Pirates also placed 7th in the 200 Yard Medley Relay at 2:05.99, with A. Wolek, J. Wolek, Leibik, and Burris competing.
 
Next meet is the Class 1A District 6 Tournament, starting at 8:00 AM at Indian River State College in Fort Pierce.
