Varsity Volleyball Advances to District Finals
On 10/17/23, the varsity volleyball team hosted Merritt Island Christian in the Class 2A District 8 Semifinals in the Gonzalez-Lobo Activities Center. In an exciting matchup, the Pirates overcame the Cougars on the court in 4 sets (25-21, 25-21, 19-25, 25-20) to advance to the District Finals.
Leading the team in both kills and aces, with 15 and 2 respectively, was CJ Fykes, who also recorded 13 digs. Elliotte Kahler proved vital on the floor with 1 kill, 38 assists, 1 ace, and 21 digs. Natalee Rogers led the team in digs with 30 and also contributed 3 assists. Meagan Baker recorded 9 kills, 8 digs, and 1 block for the Pirates, and teammate Makena Rodriguez tallied 10 kills and 21 digs. Alice Crean added 5 kills and 4 digs toward the victory. Rounding out the successful night for the Pirates were Sommer Soderman with 9 digs and Khlieo Perez with 1 kill.
