Performance at Districts Secures Regional Bids for Varsity Swimmers
The varsity swimming teams competed on 10/18/22 in the Class 1A District 6 Tournament, held at the Anne Wilder Aquatic Complex at Indian River State College in Fort Pierce. Both the boys team and the girls team captured 6th place overall.
For the girls team, Alexandra Stern captured 1st place honors at Districts, finishing 2:11.68 in the 200 Yard Individual Medley. Stern also placed 2nd in the 100 Yard Backstroke at 1:01.09 and will advance to Regionals in both events.
For the boys team, Jay Leibik placed 3rd (24.12) in the 50 Yard Freestyle, which allows him to advance to the Class 1A Region 2 Tournament. Jozef Wolek also qualified for Regionals with his 1:17.33 6th place finish in the 100 Yard Breaststroke. The Pirate relay team, consisting of Leibik, Matthew Burris, Alexander Wolek and J. Wolek, also advances to Regionals as the 8th seed with their 2nd place finish (1:43.56) in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay. In the 200 Yard Medley Relay, the relay team of A. Wolek, J. Wolek, Leibik, and Burris also qualified as alternates with their 6th place finish of 2:05.65.
