Varsity Football Holds Back Saints to Move on to Semifinals

The varsity football team hosted Palm Beach Christian Preparatory School for the SSAA Class 4A Quarterfinals on 10/26/23. After initially falling behind 6-0 in the 1st quarter, the Pirates rallied to secure 2 touchdowns in the 2nd quarter. Passes by quarterback Nate Sparkman successfully fell to Nicky Colontrelle and Connor O'Brien, with each scoring a touchdown to help the Pirates lead 14-6 going into halftime. The determined Pirates held the Saints to 6 points in the second half to secure the victory 14-12 and clinch their spot in the Semifinals.

The entire defensive line and linebacker crew were key in applying pressure throughout the game. Jaden Jackson had a big game for the Pirates, with 19 carries for a total of 82 rushing yards. Returning from an injury, Patrick MacMullan had big plays on both sides of the field, including a 37 yard catch that included quite a few running yards after the catch. MacMullan collected 53 total receiving yards and led the team in tackles with 9, which includes 8 solo tackles. Carson Yates led the team in sacks in 4. Kicker Marlon Dato-Slattery punted the ball well for the Pirates, pinning the Saints deep in their territory several times.
