Varsity Cross Country Teams Advance to Regionals

The varsity boys and girls cross country teams competed in the Class 1A District 7 Tournament at the Indian River County Fairgrounds in Vero Beach on 11/2/23. Competing against 18 other schools, the girls team finished in 7th and the boys team finished in 8th, with both finishes qualifying the teams to move onto the Regional Tournament.

The girls team was led by Jacquelyn Perrin, who finished 28th at 23:40, and Elizabeth Campbell, who clocked 24:12 for 39th place. Charlie Cappelen (24:44) and Sienna Mallon (24:57) both saw large drops in time from their previous season best which helped score the points needed to the Pirates to the overall 7th place finish.

Leading the boys team was Jack Curley with 19:23 to finish 35th. Bobby Campbell followed closely with 19:45 as did teammate Thomas Leonard with 20:15. Both AJ Munz (22:10) and Daniel Clemente (22:35) dropped times from their season best to help the Pirates grab the last qualifying 8th place sport.
 
Next meet is the Class 1A Region 4 Tournament at South County Regional Park in Boca Raton, starting at 8:30 AM.
