Becker Pool Update

The Becker Pool renovation and expansion project is nearing a critical stage. The pool slab has been formed, the piles installed and the bottom of the pool has been graded. You can check out the progress through a live camera view or time-lapse here.

The next step in the process is for the new plumbing to be installed below the pool slab, which will take a couple of weeks to complete. Once this has been done, the slab will be reinforced, and finally, the slab will be poured. This will likely happen around the end of the calendar year.

Once the slab has been completed, the next step will be the installation of the pool walls. The installation of the pool walls is another significant milestone for the project as you will begin to see the shape of the pool take form. It also brings us one step closer to the finished product.

If there is one word that has defined this project, it is tenacity. Through several challenges and unforeseen circumstances, this project and the people associated with it have remained committed to finishing before this summer begins.

A huge thank you to Jason Fykes, who has dealt with the challenges head-on, and to our Building and Grounds Committee of the Board, chaired by John Huryn, along with our entire Board of Trustees, chaired by Wendy Porter. It has taken the support from these volunteers and the financial support from so many of you to get us where we are today.

I look forward to the day (soon) when we open the new and improved Becker Pool!

I also look forward to seeing you around campus!
Stuart
