Thrilling Comeback by Varsity Boys Basketball in Senior Night Victory

The varsity boys basketball team hosted Pineapple Cove Classical Academy for Senior Night on 1/16/24 in the Gonzalez-Lobo Activities Center. Despite being down 5-15 at the end of the 1st quarter, the determined Pirates lessened the deficit to 25-30 in the 2nd quarter. Coming in hot after halftime, the Pirates pushed ahead of the Patriots 40-38 by the end of the 3rd quarter and sealed their victory in the 4th quarter with a 51-50 win.

Cody Simmonds lit up the scoreboard for the Pirate team with 4 two-pointers, 3 three-pointers, and 6 free throws for a combined 23 points.  Gary Anderson racked up 15 points on the floor for the Pirate team, and Nate Sparkman netted 5 points. Cameron Barnes sank a 3-pointer, and teammates Mike Chavers and Jayzere Cannon put up 2 points each. Sean Stalheber collected a free throw for the Pirates to round out the thrilling matchup.
 
Next game is the SSAA 2A Playoffs on 1/19/24 versus City of Life Christian Academy, starting at 2:30 PM at the AdventHealth Fieldhouse & Conference Center in Winter Haven.
