Varsity Track & Field Opens Season at Martin County Freshman/Sophomore Invite

The varsity track and field team traveled to Martin County High School in Stuart on 2/23/24 to compete in the Freshman/Sophomore Invitational for their first meet of the regular season. Competing in the events against eight other schools, the Pirates saw several athletes finish in the top 8 in their events. 

For the girls team events, Riley Wilkerson and Marlo Wilkerson finished 2nd and 4th respectively in the Long Jump, with M. Wilkerson hitting a personal record. Jacquelyn Perrin placed 7th in the 800m and 8th in the 1600m. Mia Perez finished 1st in both the Discus and Javelin throws.

Representing the boys team, Jack Curley secured a 1st place finish in the Javelin and the 8000m and recorded 2nd place in the 1600m. Dean Sincavage finished 3rd in both Discus and Javelin, and William Suleman placed 4th in Javelin and 6th in Discus. Matthew Cocks finished 7th in Javelin but broke the school record in Discus by more than 2 meters to capture a 2nd place finish. 
 
Next meet is away on 2/28/24 at Jensen Beach High School in Jensen Beach, starting at 4:00 PM.
