Varsity Girls Lacrosse Sees Close Game with Buccaneers

On 3/2/24, the varsity girls lacrosse team traveled to Palm Beach Gardens to face off against The Benjamin School. The Pirates proved formidable opponents on the field, leading by 4-3 at the enter of the first quarter, thanks to Lily O'Brien's buzzer-beating shot. The Buccanneers rallied by halftime to cut secure an 8-6 lead, with the Pirates' goalkeeper Maddie Moscrip making 6 crucial saves in the 2nd quarter. The Pirates struggled to control the draw in the 3rd quarter, and the start of the 4th quarter saw the Pirates down by 5. Undeterred, the Pirate offense rallied and proceeded to narrow the gap, and Madeline Richards led a renewed charge for the Pirate defense to hold the Buccaneers scoreless in the 4th quarter as they battled the clock. Unfortunately, the Pirates were unable to overcome the deficit before time ran out, and they fell 9-12 to the Buccaneers.

CJ Fykes led the scoreboard for the Pirate team with 3 goals. Caitlin Moscrip brought in 2 goals for the Pirates, and Carrington Brown provided 1 goal and 1 assist. Teammates Bebe Busch-Dunford and Kelly Lynch netted 1 goal apiece, and Margaret Fykes recorded 1 assist.

Next game is away on 3/5/24 at Oxbridge Academy in West Palm Beach, starting at 5:00 PM.
