Varsity Baseball Shows Competitive Run Against Panthers

The varsity baseball team traveled to Fort Pierce on 4/2/24 to take on the Fort Pierce Westwood High School Panthers. Despite being down 10-1 at the bottom of the 3rd inning, the Pirates rallied in the 4th inning to narrow the gap to 14-8. The Pirates held the Panthers to 1 run in the 5th inning and kept the Panthers scoreless in the 6th inning. The Pirates' comeback saw them narrowly lose to the Panthers 15-10.

At bat for the Pirates, Jaden Jackson saw 2 runs and 1 hit, Zavier Solano collected 1 run, 2 hits, and 2 RBIs, and Noah Hernandez recorded 1 run, 2 hits, and 1 RBI. Jacob Arbelaez achieved 2 runs, Luke Cozad provided 1 run and 2 hits, and Reid Morris got 1 hit and 1 RBI for the Pirate team. Also adding 1 run each for the Pirates were Trey Dunlap, Graham Hutton, and Liam Dyer. Jackson led the team in stolen bases with 2, and teammates Hernandez and Arbelaez each recorded 1.

Patrick Gross led the Pirates at the mound, pitching 3 innings, allowing only 3 hits and 5 runs, and striking out 3 batters. Dunlap pitched for 2.2 innings, allowing 3 hits and 10 runs, while striking out 5 batters. Hutton provided relief at the mound, pitching 0.1 innings, allowing 1 hit and no runs. In fielding stats, Morris achieved the most putouts with 8; Dunlap recorded 5 assists, 1 putout, and 1 double play; Arbelaez provided 1 assist; Hutton collected 5 putouts and 1 double play; Jackson received 2 putouts, and Hernandez added 2 putouts.
 
Next game is away on 4/4/24 versus Berean Christian School, starting at 3:30 PM at the Seminole Palms Sports Complex in Royal Palm Beach.
