Head of Middle School Update

We have had a flurry of activity on campus this week, and I wanted to make sure to bring the community up to date on the search for a new middle school head.

We retained Southern Teachers Agency (the firm that helped us find our outstanding athletic director!). I am happy to report that there were 26 applicants for the position, and the interest in Saint Edward’s is very strong. The Leadership Team narrowed the applicant pool to seven semi-finalists. The semi-finalists consisted of sitting middle school heads and long-time senior administrators. They came from independent schools around the country and a couple from top independent schools in Florida. After initial interviews, we selected four finalists. Of the four, one recently decided they didn’t wish to move and has withdrawn their name from consideration.

We will have a finalist on campus on Tuesday, and the candidate will interview with parents, students, faculty and administrators over the course of an entire day. Feedback will be taken from all who interact and are able to participate in the interview process.

We are still working on scheduling the other two finalists, who will follow the same process.

Ultimately, we hope this inclusive process will yield a professional who feels the draw of Saint Edward’s like I did.

I am thrilled with the response and interest in Saint Edward’s and this unbelievable opportunity to join a school community that is focused on the future.

Stay tuned for more updates as they occur, and I hope to see you at the Pirate Ball tomorrow night!
