Varsity Girls Lacrosse Caps Off Tremendous Season at Regional Quarterfinals

The varsity girls lacrosse team made their first regional playoff appearance in over 20 years at the Class 1A Region 4 Quarterfinals held at American Heritage in Plantation on 4/23/24. The young Pirate team, who had the honor of receiving the highest regular season state Class 1A ranking in over 20 years of the program, fought tenaciously on the field but ultimately fell 5-14 to the Patriots. Scoreboard highlights for the Pirates include 2 goals by sophomore Caitlin Moscrip, 1 goal and 1 assist by senior Mary Kathryn Watson, 1 goal and 1 assist by eighth-grader Lily O'Brien, and 1 goal by sophomore Aerin Russell.

Senior Carrington Brown finishes her time as a Pirate having set the following girls lacrosse career records: 53 assists, 131 draw controls, and 60 caused turnovers. She also set single-season records during the duration of her lacrosse career with Pirates, including 75 ground balls in 2022 and 59 draw controls in 2022. In her first year as a varsity goalie, eighth-grader Maddie Moscrip set the all-time Saint Edward's School girls lacrosse single season record for saves at 130, breaking the record previously held by Pirate alumnus Vanessa Abbott '00 (122).
