From Band Director
Pete Hengen: Saint Edward's students participated in the 41st Annual Four-County Honor Festival at IRSC. These students rehearsed diligently with their clinicians Thursday night, all-day on Friday, and then returned on Saturday afternoon for more rehearsal before performing a culminating concert in the McAlpin Fine Arts Center.
Five students out of the twenty-two selected for Four County Honor Band Jazz instrumentalists were Saint Edward's students. At the event they performed Jazz classics including
Four by Miles Davis and
Crystal Silence by Chick Corea. In true Chick Corea style,
David Israel shined as he soloed during
Crystal Silence. It was an amazing moment and the audience was mesmerized. Also in the band were Alto Saxophonist
Elise Mallon, tenor saxophonist
Daniel Knight, and drummer
Addison Waddell. Waddell demonstrated considerable tenacity as he drove the band in Swing style even though he known for his expertise in the Funk style.
Congratulations to all who were selected, and congratulations on such outstanding performances!
